Solar As Social Media-Is Austin Missing Out?

Is Austin missing out? As an Austin native, I say unfortunately "yes". This weekend, I was called/emailed by no less than 3 interested business Owners who saw the attached article about a San Antonio retail business which went solar. The news, Internet and grass roots "social" conversation spreads data amongst individuals and business owners about the advantages of renewables. Even if only as a discussion topic, those rooftop panels increase awareness of energy conservation. Austin is topping the chart of every national survey for it's economy and quality of living. These are all the more reasons the masses will continue to come to Austin and I for one would love to see Austin Energy bring back some of the commercial solar utility rebates that will put large, visible projects in town that will not only generate electricity but generate "buzz". After all, the tech folks moving here are only going to demand more power(not less) to run their iPhones, flat screens, and electronic gadgets.(author too).
