What is the Eagle Ford, and What is the Big Deal?

Do you keep hearing about the exciting “Eagle Ford Shale” and wonder what the big deal is?

What “it” is, is not quite so much as the question, “whats the big deal?”. The Eagle Ford Shale is an active band of underground petroleum reserves that are now accessible due to technological advances commonly known as ‘fracking’. There are 15 counties which it directly affects but the additional effects are even wider.

According to the Texas Workforce Commission, the average wage for all employees in the region was $32,680 in 2009, while Texas workers in oil and gas extraction industry earned an average annual wage of $76,874.

 

These areas present huge opportunities in real estate as well.
