What Is Driving New Braunfels, Tx Growth?

What is driving New Braunfels growth?

Today, a multifamily developer client asked me: What is driving New Braunfels growth?

New Braunfels population growth ranks second in the United States. Yes—second in the US.

Here is an article regarding that:

http://www.bizjournals.com/sanantonio/blog/morning-edition/2016/05/new-braunfels-population-growth-ranks-second-in-u.html

·         New Braunfels grew 6.6% last year, and by comparison, San Antonio only grew 2.1%.

·         (by the way—the fastest growing city, by %, was Georgetown, TX)

In my opinion: the short answer to your question is JOBS.

The New Braunfels Economic Development Council (EDC) works with the Austin EDC and other central Texas EDCs. New Braunfels has relatively less expensive housing than Austin, but still central.

NB lost a large employer, “The Scooter Store” in 2015. In less than 1 year, the City made up those 2,000 jobs, and ADDED 500 additional jobs.

·         New Braunfels has the highest median income in that area as well—at $60,000/year

(see link: http://www.twcnews.com/tx/san-antonio/news/2015/04/27/closing-texas--affordability-gap-one-income-at-a-time.html )

OH—and check out The Schlitterbahn Waterpark!

Hope that helps!
